Terms of Use
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Cite, an evidence workspace for grounded answers with verifiable citations (the "Service"), provided by Cite. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
1. The Service
Cite lets teams upload documents into collections and ask questions in natural language. Answers are generated with inline citations linked to the source passages, and citations are automatically audited for accuracy. Features may change over time as we improve the Service.
2. Accounts & eligibility
You must provide accurate account information and keep your credentials secure. You are responsible for activity under your account and for your workspace members. Admins may manage members, roles, and invitations within their organization.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the Service: no unlawful content, no infringement of others' rights, no attempts to disrupt or reverse-engineer the Service, and no uploading of material you do not have the right to use. We may suspend accounts that violate these Terms.
4. Your content & sources
You retain ownership of the documents and content you upload ("Your Content"). You grant Cite a limited licence to host, process, index, and display Your Content solely to provide the Service to you and your workspace. You are responsible for having the rights to upload and use Your Content.
5. AI-generated answers
Answers are generated automatically and, while grounded in your sources and auditable, may contain errors. Citation verdicts are an automated quality signal, not a guarantee. You are responsible for reviewing answers and citations before relying on them, particularly for legal, compliance, or other high-stakes decisions.
6. Intellectual property
The Service, including its software, design, and trademarks, is owned by Cite and protected by intellectual-property laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights in the Service except the limited right to use it as described.
7. Confidentiality & security
We apply administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards to protect Your Content, as described in our Privacy Policy. We do not sell Your Content and do not use it to train third-party models without your instruction.
8. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the maximum extent permitted by law.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Cite will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost profits or data, arising from your use of the Service. Our aggregate liability is limited to the amounts you paid for the Service in the twelve months preceding the claim.
10. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms or to protect the Service. On termination, your right to use the Service ends; we will make Your Content available for export for a reasonable period unless prohibited by law.
11. Changes & governing law
We may update these Terms; material changes will be communicated in-product or by email, and continued use constitutes acceptance. These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Cite is established, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles.
